Bogger / Loader Operator (Underground Mining)

Location: Obuasi, Ghana

Position Summary

The Bogger / Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of underground load-haul-dump (LHD) equipment to transport ore and waste materials in support of mining production activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, equipment care, and achieving production targets in an underground mining environment.

Key Duties and

Responsibilities

Operate underground boggers/loaders (LHDs) to muck and transport ore and waste to designated stockpiles, crushers, or haulage trucks.

Conduct pre-start inspections and complete daily equipment checks to ensure safe operating conditions.

Identify, report, and document equipment defects, faults, or unsafe conditions promptly.

Operate equipment safely and efficiently in confined underground working areas while complying with all mine safety standards and procedures.

Support the achievement of daily and weekly production targets by following mine schedules and supervisor instructions.

Perform basic equipment housekeeping, cleaning, and minor maintenance activities.

Maintain effective communication with truck operators, jumbo operators, supervisors, and other members of the mining team.

Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.

Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Educational

Requirements

Minimum of a Senior High School Certificate (WASSCE/SSSCE) or equivalent.

A certificate or technical training in Mining, Engineering, Heavy Equipment Operation, or a related field will be an added advantage.

Desired

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Proven experience operating underground boggers/loaders (LHDs) in an underground mining environment.

Good understanding of underground haulage systems, ground control, and mining safety practices.

Demonstrated ability to operate heavy mining equipment safely and efficiently.

Strong spatial awareness, machine control, and hazard identification skills.

Valid Heavy Machinery Operating Certification.

Previous experience in underground mining, construction, or heavy equipment operations will be an advantage.

Ability and willingness to work underground on a roster-based schedule.

Must possess valid Ghanaian Driving Licence Classes C and E with the ability to operate underground light vehicles (SUVs).

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Strong commitment to safety, discipline, and operational excellence.
