We are seeking a strategic, influential, and results-driven External Communications Manager to strengthen the company’s reputation, enhance stakeholder relationships, and drive impactful external communications.

About the Role

The External Communications Manager will serve as a strategic communications partner to senior management and key business functions. The successful candidate will develop and execute integrated external communication strategies that support Telecel Ghana’s business priorities, strengthen its corporate reputation, and position the company as a leading voice in Ghana’s telecommunications industry.

The role will lead media relations, reputation management, crisis communications, executive profiling, stakeholder engagement, thought leadership, and strategic storytelling across multiple channels.

Key

Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Reputation Management

Act as a trusted strategic communications adviser to senior management and key business functions.

Develop and implement integrated external communications strategies aligned with Telecel Ghana’s corporate objectives and priorities.

Develop compelling narratives that strengthen the company’s reputation and market positioning.

Position Telecel Ghana as a credible thought leader on key telecommunications, technology, business, and socio-economic issues.

Ensure all external communications consistently reflect the company’s values, priorities, and strategic direction.

Develop position papers and key messages on critical industry and business issues.

Executive Communications

Prepare speeches, briefing

notes, Q&A documents, fact sheets, interview guides, and other communication materials for the CEO and Senior Management Team.

Provide strategic communication counsel to senior executives ahead of media engagements, public appearances, and stakeholder interactions.

Support executive profiling and thought-leadership opportunities across relevant platforms.

Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across executive communications.

Media Relations & Crisis Communications

Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, media organisations, industry influencers, and other relevant opinion leaders.

Develop and execute proactive media engagement strategies that strengthen Telecel Ghana’s visibility and reputation.

Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and emerging issues affecting the company and the telecommunications industry.

Lead external communications during reputational issues and crisis situations.

Develop timely responses and communication strategies to mitigate negative narratives and protect the company’s reputation.

Maintain an effective issue-management log to proactively identify, track, and resolve stakeholder and reputational concerns.

Content & Digital Communications

Collaborate with internal teams to develop accurate, engaging, and impactful content for websites, social media platforms, press releases, media materials, and other communication channels.

Lead digital storytelling initiatives that communicate Telecel Ghana’s business achievements, innovations, customer impact, and community contributions.

Ensure consistency of corporate messaging across all external communication channels.

Identify opportunities to use emerging communication platforms and formats to expand audience reach and engagement.

Stakeholder Engagement

Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy.

Identify, map, prioritise, and manage relationships with key external stakeholders.

Organise quarterly media and stakeholder forums to strengthen relationships, encourage dialogue, and foster collaboration.

Develop communication approaches that address stakeholder interests and emerging concerns.

Work closely with relevant business units to ensure consistent stakeholder messaging and engagement.

Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability

Lead public profiling and awareness campaigns for the Telecel Foundation and sustainability initiatives.

Develop compelling stories that demonstrate the social, economic, and environmental impact of Telecel Ghana’s programmes.

Support communications around corporate social responsibility, sustainability, community investment, and other purpose-led initiatives.

Ensure sustainability communications reflect the company’s commitments and Ghana’s socio-economic and environmental context.

Events, Partnerships & Campaigns

Guide the public relations value generated from key events, sponsorships, partnerships, and corporate engagements.

Develop communication strategies for major corporate events and external engagements.

Manage external communications agencies, partners, and other service providers to deliver high-quality outputs.

Oversee communication budgets and ensure effective use of resources.

Evaluate campaign and engagement performance and recommend improvements based on results.
