The Grader Operator will operate underground grading equipment to construct, maintain, and rehabilitate underground roads, ramps, and working areas.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining safe and efficient underground travel conditions by maintaining road profiles, drainage systems, grades, and working surfaces in accordance with approved mine standards and operating procedures.
Key
Operate the grader safely and efficiently to construct, maintain, and rehabilitate underground roads, ramps, and working areas.
Maintain correct road profiles, gradients, drainage systems, and travelling surfaces to support safe underground operations.
Operate the grader in development-end areas, including inclines and declines, in accordance with mine plans and operating procedures.
Conduct thorough pre-start inspections and identify and report equipment defects, safety hazards, and abnormal operating conditions.
Monitor grader performance and report mechanical or operational issues promptly to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
Carry out routine operator maintenance, equipment cleaning, housekeeping, and other assigned equipment-care activities.
Maintain clean and safe working areas around the grader and comply with underground housekeeping standards.
Operate safely around underground mobile equipment, pedestrians, light vehicles, and other mining personnel.
Follow approved mine plans, shift instructions, traffic management procedures, and operating standards.
Maintain effective communication with supervisors, operators, and other underground personnel.
Identify and report unsafe ground conditions, road hazards, drainage issues, and other risks that could affect safe underground travel.
Complete assigned work within planned timeframes while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, training, and other operational activities as required.
Support the achievement of planned production and development targets without compromising safety or equipment integrity.
Comply with all company health and safety policies, mine standards, environmental
requirements, and applicable operating procedures.
Educational & Professional
Minimum High School Certificate or equivalent.
A technical qualification or training in mining, construction, heavy equipment operation, or a related field will be an advantage.
Minimum 3 years’ experience operating a grader in an underground mining environment.
Valid Ghanaian Driving/Operating Licence and relevant equipment-operating certification.
Demonstrated experience operating graders in underground development areas, including inclines and declines, will be an advantage.
Previous experience in mining, construction, heavy equipment operation, or a related technical environment is desirable.
Working Environment
This position requires the successful candidate to work in an underground mining environment, including development areas, inclines, declines, and confined working spaces.
The successful candidate must be prepared to work underground on a roster and consistently comply with the company’s safety, health, operational, and environmental
requirements.
