The Health and Safety Coordinator will coordinate health and safety activities across the company’s operations and help ensure that employees, contractors, and visitors work in a safe and compliant environment.
The successful candidate will conduct workplace inspections, support risk assessments, coordinate safety training, investigate incidents, and promote proactive safety practices across operational areas.
Key
Coordinate the implementation of workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes.
Conduct regular workplace inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
Support risk assessments and recommend practical control measures to reduce workplace hazards.
Monitor compliance with company health and safety standards and applicable regulatory
requirements.
Coordinate safety inductions, toolbox talks, training sessions, and awareness programmes.
Promote a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and visitors.
Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and assist in identifying root causes.
Prepare incident reports and track corrective and preventive actions to completion.
Monitor the use of personal protective equipment and promote proper PPE practices.
Work with supervisors and operational teams to address identified safety risks promptly.
Participate in emergency preparedness activities, drills, and response planning.
Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports, inspection findings, and training documentation.
Monitor workplace conditions and recommend improvements where necessary.
Support safety audits and follow up on audit findings and corrective actions.
Communicate safety
requirements clearly to employees and contractors.
Promote safe work practices throughout mining, processing, maintenance, and support activities.
Keep management informed about safety performance, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities.
Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other health and safety duties assigned by management.
Educational
Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional health and safety certification will be an advantage.
Experience & Competencies
Previous experience in occupational health and safety, preferably within mining, construction, manufacturing, or another industrial environment.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of workplace health and safety principles and risk management.
Demonstrate knowledge of incident investigation and workplace inspection procedures.
Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
Demonstrate excellent observation and problem-solving abilities.
Work confidently with employees, contractors, supervisors, and management.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Take initiative and respond promptly to safety concerns.
Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and commitment to workplace safety.
Ability to work effectively in a demanding operational environment.
