About the Role

As a JHS Subject Teacher, you will plan and deliver effective, curriculum-aligned lessons within your area of specialisation. You will create an inclusive classroom environment, engage students through appropriate teaching strategies, assess their progress, and provide the support they need to succeed.

You will also work closely with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to promote high academic standards and positive student development.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons within your subject area.

Align lesson content and teaching strategies with the relevant curriculum and learning objectives.

Use a range of teaching methods to accommodate different learning abilities and needs.

Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

Maintain effective classroom management and establish clear expectations for student behaviour.

Assess students’ learning through classwork, assignments, projects, tests, and examinations.

Monitor student performance and provide constructive feedback to support improvement.

Identify students who require additional academic support and implement appropriate interventions.

Encourage students to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, and develop independent learning skills.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessment, progress, and other relevant information.

Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.

Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership to strengthen teaching and learning.

Participate actively in departmental meetings, staff meetings, school events, and professional development activities.

Support extracurricular activities and other programmes that contribute to students’ holistic development.

Promote discipline, respect, responsibility, integrity, and positive values among students.

Safeguard the wellbeing, dignity, and safety of all learners.

Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the school administration.

Requirements

Relevant teaching qualification and/or teaching experience in the applicable subject area.

Strong knowledge of the subject and the ability to communicate concepts clearly.

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Passion for teaching and working with young people.

Responsible, punctual, hardworking, and professional.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Commitment to the academic and personal development of learners.

Ability to plan, organise, assess, and manage learning effectively.

Patience, adaptability, creativity, and a student-centred approach to teaching.
